TIme off

In the next few days weeks I will post as often as I can, but my daughter is getting married in about one month and moving away. On the days she is in town I want to spend as much time as I can with her. Today is one of those days. On the days when we can spend time together I won’t post.

Thank you for your understanding.

Astragalus Utahensis

Astragalus Utahensis

This little gem of a plant is located all over Utah along the benches. It is one of the first plants to flower in the spring. Its scientific name is Astragalus Utahensis commonly known as Little Lady Finger. This one is located in the xeroscape portion of my yard. I grew this plant from seed. Utah native wildflowers are very difficult to grow and this one is no exception. To grow this plant I took the seed and scratched off a portion of the outer shell. Then I placed the seed in a petri dish, in water, in my fridge for two months (this simulated winter) then I planted the seeds. Of those I planted about one third of them lived.

To take this photo I got down on my stomach and shot about an inch from the ground and about two feet from the flower. I love every year when this plant starts to bloom. I then know for sure that the warm weather is a few short weeks away.

Thank you for visiting my site today.

Provo River Falls

Provo River Falls

This is another shot in my recent series of editing using Photoshop Plugins. Again I used Topaz Adjust, Denoise, but this time I added a small amount of Simplify to give the photo a slight painterly look. Today my blog is short because I am the last in my family to catch the stomach flu.

Thank you for visiting.

Geyser Basin

Geyser Basin-1

I have had a great time recently looking at past photo shoots. This one is from Geyser Basin in Yellowstone. This area amazes me. Geysers everywhere and the smell of sulfur everywhere you go. This photo is what is so amazing about this basin. With sulfur and hot water everywhere there is life that exists. The thing I re-learned from this photo was to always shoot in Raw and to save your old photos. Every time I tried to process this photo I was always less then pleased by the results.

Keep shooting and have fun looking back at past photos you have taken.
