Steal

This photo was from my boys last regular season Lacrosse game. During this game the wind was constantly blowing, it was cloudy and cold. I wanted to get this photo crisp so I set the iso to 800.
The specs:
iso 800
120mm
f/4.8
1/1000 sec
I don’t understand this game well enough to know where I should be for a good photo. On this one I was sitting in the stands and using a monopod. In this sequence my boy had just stolen the ball from the offensive player.
To process this photo I ran it through lightroom, then CS4, and finally used the Topaz Adjust filter.

Spring Bird
29/04/10 20:05 Filed in: Wildlife

The last few days have been cold, rainy, windy, and snowy. So.... today I wanted to get out and shoot some photos. I had the perfect opportunity to do so. My wife and Mother-in-Law are attending a conference on Womanhood, and I am babysitting the kids. I had about an hour inbetween taking and picking up the kids from afterschool activities. So I took my 70-200mm lens with 1.7 teleconverter and drove along the Airport dike. My hope was to find some of the beautiful spring birds. The problem was it was so windy the birds were all hunkered down. That is until I was about to leave. I found this little yellow breasted beauty. The only problem I had with this photo was while driving along the pot hole filled dike the back and forth rocking of the car with the camera sitting on my lap reset my exposure. I had taken this photo 3 stops underexposed.

Lacrosse

These photos are the from my son’s last Lacrosse game of the season. This was also the first game they have won. During this game they became a team. They believed in each other and it showed in the final score. I came to the game with my 70-200 lens and teleconverter. It was windy, dusty and cold and warm all in the same game. The clouds, wind and dust made this a darker shot then I planned on. I wanted to capture the happiness on the kids face right after winning the game. If I were taking this photo to sell I would have had a much different set up. In saying that when you arrive at the photoshoot don’t worry about what you don’t have just work with what you do have.

Meetinghouse

This is a simple two frame Five exposure pano of a local meeting house. i took this photo right as the sun was setting in the West. The orange glow of the sun gave the building a little more color then it usually has. I have spent the entire afternoon and evening repairing broken sprinkler pipes, fixing our swamp cooler, weeding and fixing our lawn edger. So for tonight this is all I have.

Holden, Utah
25/04/10 19:58 Filed in: HDR, Sunsets

This photo was taken near Holden, Utah. The clouds on the Eastern side of I-15 looked pretty cool so I pulled off the freeway and headed down a muddy dirt road (in our mini van). I quickly got out of the van to take a five exposure two frame photo. I had to do this one fast before my young child got out of the van to play in the mud. I love how the light from the setting sun highlights the clouds.
