Green River Fall

Green River Fall

For today this is about as close to winter as I want to get. This photo was taken last year in Grand Junction along the Green River. I was excited to go to Denver last fall to visit family and to take many cool pictures along the way. The problem was that mother nature got in the way. The week before we left a major cold snap hit on the Eastern side of the Continental Divide. On the Western side the cottonwood trees had some of the most vibrant color I have seen in years. As soon as we hit the mountains the weather had been so cold that all the leaves were frozen off the trees before they could change color. They were all brown and ugly. In this photo the river was framed on each side by these beautiful colors, but there was no way to get in a position to completely capture the moment. On the side of the river we were on there was a thirty foot drop straight down to the river.

I like the intense yellow.
I like the blue sky with clouds.
I like the black trees.

Thank you for visiting.
