Reflections from Utah Lake

I ended up catching a nasty virus recently, so I have been unable to get out and take any photos. Today I decided to do the next best thing. I looked at several old photos from the Utah Lake State Park. This one was taken on December 15th 2009. The temperatures that day were very much like today's... cold with a North wind blowing. The biggest difference from that year to this was the amount of snow. This year is one of our driest on record.

Reflections-on-Utah-Lake

Recently we have had several Western Tanagers frequenting our local bushes and trees. They are eating the blossoms and small fruit as it is developing. These birds have been skittish and fly away at the slightest movement. This was not the exact look I was after, but it is as good as I could get today. I do like how the the bird is framed by the leaves and the darker shadows. The rain had ended a couple of hours ago. This has been the wettest May on record and this bird was taking advantage of the rare sunshine. The specs for this photo are: Nikon d7000 70-200 mm lens with vibration control on 1.7 teleconverter Handheld f/4.8 ISO 200 focal length 340 with the crop factor it was 510 shutter speed was 1/1250
